Don’t Look Down

Look at you, afraid of your own shadow
You can do anything you want if you just let go
Don’t you know that nothing’s lost by trying?
We fail we grow—but not matter what, you gotta keep on flying
Higher, so high—we’re touching the sky
Doubt cannot outlive our pride

It’s sacrifice that brings rewards, and nothing easy is worth having
It’s worth the shot—you can’t afford the luxury of standing still
Get in the ring and take the shot
You’re leaping from your ledge, but faith will guide you 'til you reach the ground
Don’t look down

Those who dare to risk it all get stronger
Change is in the air—why can’t we be as brave as when we were younger?
Explore and expand, maybe quit that awful job you’ve got
Believing that you can instead of always thinking that you cannot
It’s wrong to repress, do less than our best
But we can’t swim 'til we dive in

It’s sacrifice that brings rewards, and nothing easy is worth having
It’s worth the shot—you can’t afford the luxury of standing still
Get in the ring and take the shot
You’re leaping from your ledge, but faith will guide you 'til you reach the ground
Don’t look down

Higher, so high—we’re touching the sky
Doubt cannot outlive our pride

It’s sacrifice that brings reward, and nothing easy is worth having
It’s worth the fight—you can’t afford the luxury of standing still
Get in the ring and take the shot
You’re leaping from the ledge, but faith will guide you 'til you reach the ground
Don’t look down…don’t look down

Wasting My Wishes

Some people talk about getting ahead
But what’s it really mean if you’re alone in your bed?
Me, I never understood the battle for success
Happiness ain’t in your pocket, it’s just up in your head

I’d rather swing from a star and get lost in the mysteries of life,
Soar like a kite into the midnight blue
So when my crossroads are here and that genie appears,
He’ll put some cash in my hand or a charismatic man
A simple choice for me, cause only love can set me free
And so I won’t be wasting my wishes (wasting my wishes)

We should be counting blessings ‘stead of counting our change
What we want and what we need are often two different things
Whatcha gonna do with all those riches when you’re gone?
Time is precious, so be careful what you’re spending it on

I’d rather swing from a star and get lost in the mysteries of life,
Soar like a kite into the midnight blue
I know my path will be clear when that genie appears,
He’ll bring a barrel of gold or a dream that I can hold
A simple choice for me, cause only passion sets me free
And so I won’t be wasting my…

Wishes are fleeting—you can’t just throw them all away
Follow the voice in your heart
There is great power in living without and leaving those chains behind

Some people talk about having it all
But what’s it really mean if no one’s there when you fall?
Nothin’ wrong with taking—that means more you have to give
But it’s worthless to be rich if you forget how to live

I’d rather swing from a star and get lost in the mysteries of life,
Soar like a kite into the midnight blue
So when my ending is near and that genie appears,
He’ll make a promise of wealth or a chance to keep my health
A simple choice for me, cause money don’t set nobody free
And so I won’t be wasting my wishes (wasting my wishes)
Wasting my wishes…wasting my wishes

Pretty Girl

Her features are deliciously off center like they’re meant to be,
But not like what she sees in magazines
With big brown eyes, she looks at you, but thinks if they were only blue,
She’d be the girl in every boy’s sweet dreams
Maybe if she wasn’t quite so tall, she’d make the grade
And somewhere there’s a shorter girl who’d surely like to trade

She doesn’t know that what she seeks is unattainable
Reflections in the water can’t be seized
She carelessly dismisses every virtue that she holds
And she cries, cause she wants to be …a pretty girl

She’s no longer a teenager—some tough times took a toll on her
She tries to fill the hole that’s in her heart
She decides that just a little work would “fix” all those annoying quirks
That made her so appealing from the start
Confidence is beauty, imperfection brave and bold
Human frailty is exotic, while the masterpiece grows cold

She doesn’t know that what she seeks is unattainable
Reflections in the water can’t be seized
She carelessly dismisses every virtue that she holds
And she cries, cause she wants to be …a pretty girl

No one leads a life that’s free of suffering to some degree
Even pretty girls with good intentions
She’s all grown up, but she can’t see her special charm and energy
Have not survived her quest for reinvention

She doesn’t know that what she seeks is unattainable
Reflections in the water can’t be seized
So preoccupied by how she looked that she let what’s inside die
She’s alone, and now she’s just another…pretty girl
Pretty Girl…pretty girl

Tapestry of Man

Everybody wants someone
Everybody needs something sometimes
We all want to be cherished
Every color, every kind

I’ve been to lots of great places
Traveled much of this world we know
Everywhere the same faces
Yeah, everywhere I go

Laughter rings in any language
Tears are shed and stories told
All of us feel lost and lonely, spirits young and old
Our hearts guide the thread that keeps us all together
When worlds build walls between us, it’s love we understand
The fabric of humanity is stitched across the land
A blanket of hope, a tapestry of man

Train keeps running down miles of track
I’m leaving the city I know so well
And I don’t know when I’m coming back
I’m off to find myself

Variety breeds artful living
Differences should be embraced
By finding common ground among us, hate can be erased

Our hearts guide the threads that keep us all together
When worlds build walls between us, it’s love we understand
The fabric of humanity stitched across the land
A blanket of hope, a tapestry of man

There are friends we’ve never met across the oceans blue
They feel triumph and regret, the same as me and you

Our hearts guide the threads that keep us all together
When worlds build walls between us, it’s love we understand
The fabric of humanity stitched across the land
A blanket of hope, a tapestry of man

I Don’t Wanna Be That Smart

I still believe in happy endings, so maybe I’m a bit naïve
Think about the time that you’re spending predicting such misery
Me, I expect the best in life, and I don’t wanna change
So if that sets me up for disappointment, then I’m ready for the pain

Cause you understand the way of the world—always do your part
But I’m looking for rainbows while you ignore your heart
I don’t wanna be that smart

Every cloud has a bright silvery lining, or maybe I’m a grown up child
But I wouldn’t trade my rose-colored glasses for your condescending smile
Your view is real I guess, but mind is much more fun
You only trust in yourself, but I trust everyone

Cause you understand the way of the world—always do your part
But I’m looking for rainbows while you ignore your heart
I don’t wanna be that smart

I’m a hopeless romantic—a dreamer—and it hurts when they don’t come true
Guess that’s an unpleasant side effect of being half as wise as you
Whatever “knowledge” stole your soul, it’s nothing that I need
So don’t try to burn my temple down; I can’t see what you see

Cause you understand the way of the world-always do you part
But I’m looking for rainbows, while you betray your heart
I don’t wanna be that smart

You understand the way of the world—always do your part
But I’m looking for rainbows while you betray your heart
I don’t wanna be that smart

When It Rains

Ghost forgotten whisper at my window while I sleep
Tears of all that used to be pour down
Rhythmically reminding me that time keeps marching on
There is loss, yet there is beauty in that sound
Like a million teardrops falling form the sky
Asking why…

Every moment of our lives is sure to pass
The magic only lasts as long as memories remain alive in our souls
Don’t know whether I should laugh or cry today
In my mind, I just replay old times
And there is sweetness in my pain
My yesterdays are here again when it rains

Visions past collect, making puddles in mind
Voices good and bad are with me still
Haunted by the feelings I will always have in side
And when it rains, those faded pictures become real
The storm depicts my journey as I lie safely here
And it’s clear…

Every moment of our lives is sure to pass
The magic only lasts as long as memories remain alive in our souls
Don’t know whether I should laugh or cry today
In my mind, I just replay old times
And there is sweetness in my pain
My yesterdays are here again when it rains
